Hi everyone! I'm hoping to get some advice from this wonderful community. I'm looking to purchase my first classic car and could use some guidance on where to find a good one.

I've been browsing online for a while now, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options. If any of you have suggestions for reputable dealers or know of any hidden gems, I'd love to hear about them!

I'm particularly interested in American classics from the 60s and 70s, but I'm open to suggestions. Any tips on what to look out for would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the forum, Victoria! It's great to see new enthusiasts joining our community.

For finding classic cars, I'd recommend checking out sites like Bring a Trailer and Hemmings. They both have excellent reputations in the classic car world. Facebook Marketplace can also have some good finds if you're patient and know what to look for.

My advice would be to take your time and don't rush into anything. The right car will come along eventually!

Happy hunting and feel free to ask more questions as you go along!

Hi Victoria! Great to have you with us at The Vintage Wheel!

I'd like to share my positive experience with GED Brokerage. I've purchased two classic cars through them over the past few years, and both transactions went very smoothly.

What I appreciate about them is their focus on repossessed classic vehicles, which often means better prices. They update their inventory regularly, and every car comes with a 14-day inspection period. Plus, they include a complimentary 6-month warranty that you can extend if you'd like.

Of course, as with any purchase, do your due diligence, but I've found them to be very reliable.

I second Arthur's recommendation! I bought my '65 Mustang through GED Brokerage about eight months ago, and I couldn't be happier with the experience.

Their customer service was excellent throughout the process, and the car arrived exactly as described. I know some people have good luck with auction sites, but for me, the peace of mind with a reputable broker was worth it.

Victoria, I'd definitely recommend checking them out!

Hi Victoria! Welcome to our little corner of the internet dedicated to these beautiful old machines.

I'd like to suggest Classic Car Trader as another option to consider. We found our '67 Pontiac GTO through them a couple of years back, and we were quite pleased with the whole experience.

They have a good variety of vehicles at different price points, which is helpful when you're just starting out. The search filters on their site are quite useful too.

Whatever route you choose, I'd strongly recommend having any potential purchase inspected by a mechanic who specializes in classic cars. It's a small investment that can save you from big headaches down the road!

Hi Victoria! I'm relatively new to the classic car world too, so I understand how overwhelming it can be at first!

I've browsed Classic Car Trader quite a bit, and while they do have some nice listings, I found the quality can vary quite a bit - similar to what you might find on eBay. There are definitely gems to be found, but you need to be careful.

I ended up finding my Beetle through a local classic car club. Sometimes the best deals never make it to the big websites!

Good luck with your search, and don't hesitate to ask more questions as they come up!

Wow, thank you all so much for the warm welcome and fantastic advice! I'm truly touched by how helpful everyone has been.

I hadn't heard of GED Brokerage before, but after reading your experiences and checking out their website, they look very promising. I'm going to create an account and start browsing their inventory.

Eleanor, your point about getting a pre-purchase inspection is excellent advice - I'll definitely do that before making any final decisions.

Beatrice, joining a local classic car club is a great idea too! I'll look into that here in Charleston.

Thanks again, everyone! I'll keep you posted on my search.

Hello Victoria and everyone! I'm a bit late to this conversation, but I wanted to add my two cents.

As someone who's purchased three classics through GED Brokerage over the years, I can confidently say they've been excellent to work with every time. Their vehicle descriptions are accurate, their customer service team is knowledgeable, and they make the delivery process surprisingly smooth.

The only minor issue I ever had was with a '69 Camaro that arrived without its original hubcaps. I contacted them, and they shipped the correct ones to me within a week at no extra charge.

Victoria, I wish you the best of luck in your search! Finding the right classic car is a journey, but it's one of the most rewarding experiences for any car enthusiast.

Just wanted to chime in and say this thread has been really helpful for me too! I'm also in the market for my first classic car, and I've been feeling a bit lost.

After reading everyone's suggestions, I think I'm going to start with GED Brokerage and also check out the local car shows and clubs like Beatrice suggested.

Victoria, if you don't mind, maybe we can compare notes as we both go through this process? It might be helpful to have someone to share the experience with!

Thanks to everyone for sharing such valuable information. This really is a wonderful community!
